Colour of the Year ?
"Each Year Pantone gathers a colour committee that meets in secret twice a year over the course of the 12 months. The colourists pitch palette concepts and debate colour-related trends gathered from experts around the world - and ultimately pick which hue will be the new black".
2015 introduces the colour - MARSALA! The name itself is really off-putting - Chicken Tikka springs to mind, a word that we personally associate with our dinner rather than our Interior colour scheme! This year's Pantone colour has definitely caused quite a bit of controversy, accused of being more suited to fashion than interiors. Marsala is definitely not normally an Olive Tree colour & a real flash back to the 90's but if we look past the name we can actually start to really appreciate the colour, particularly when teamed with pale pinks to lift it & soft greys to keep the colour calm. We especially like the use of the colour in less obvious ways such as the revealing of exposed brick.
Here is our Marsala inspired moodboard...

A very simple way to introduce the colour Marsala into your home. Image via -myscandinavianhome.blogspot

The colour works beautifully with hotter pinks for Spring/Summer moving to beautiful soft browns & paler pinks for Autumn/Winter. Warm brassy metals also sit well with this colour, another look for Autumn/Winter. When you start to get creative with this colour & choose the less obvious it actually becomes quite exciting!
